The partnership gathered to achieve the REFRESCO objectives, is composed of 18 partners from 7 EU Member-states (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom), as well as one partner from outside of the EU (Switzerland).
REFRESCO brings together the main European railway system integrators and equipment suppliers, namely Alstom, Ansaldo Breda, Bombardier, CAF, Siemens, Talgo and Vossloh, along with one of the largest European Railway Undertakings in SNCF.
The consortium also benefits from the participation of UIC, representing Railway Undertakings and Infrastructure Managers. The consortium is supported by highly-skilled Universities and research centres such as DLR (the German Aerospace Centre), Newcastle University, Tecnalia and UTC (Université de Technologie de Compiegne). The consortium is led by UNIFE (the Association of the European Railway Industry). Companies such as Astrium, Dupont and TWI bring expertise and know-how in materials supply, design, manufacturing, joining and testing, while REFRESCO also includes a certification company (Lloyd’s Register Rail Europe) to bring the required knowledge on certification of rolling stock.
